Stars of Karting Utah Report

The first weekend of the new season in the Stars of Karting series was a challenging one for Stefan Rzadzinski in his 2nd JICA race. The weekend started with a full day of practice on Friday where Rzadzinski and the Genesis Racing team were coming to grips with the Miller Motorsports Park track. After a full day of karting commitments, Rzadzinski was off to experience the Formula BMW Recruitment Day hosted by Formula BMW Americas. Rzadzinski was picked as one of the elite 10 karters who were chosen to drive the FB02 around Miller Motorsports Park East Course. With this opportunity which the Stars of Karting and Formula BMW Americas had given, Rzadzinski drove a formula car for the first time. Following the on track activities, Friday wrapped up with Formula BMW Americas hosting a dinner for all the Stars of Karting drivers and teams.
Saturday commenced with a slow start for Rzadzinski as he only managed to qualify 19th on the grid for all the heats. In Heat 1, mechanical problems hindered Rzadzinski as he hobbled his kart to 21st position. Heat 2 was a better run as Rzadzinski moved up to 10th place quickly after starting in 19th, however similar problems to Heat 1 reoccurred later in the race, causing Rzadzinski to slow slightly and dropped him to 14th position when the checkers flew.
